EVENTS: JPNSGRLS Release ‘Circulation’ & Western Canadian Tour Dates
JPNSGRLS opened up this year’s Keloha Music & Arts Festival this past Friday. If that wasn’t sweet enough, they are starting off this week on an even sweeter note. Their debut album Circulation is being released today, available via iTunes and through Light Organ Records (CD, vinyl, digital).
EVENTS: East Van Summer Jam @ STRATHCONA PARK – July 5, 2014
The first annual East Van Summer Jam will take place tomorrow at Strathcona Park. Vancouver’s The Boom Booms will be headlining the event and giving away copies of a limited edition East Van Summer Jam Mixtape to the first 1,000 attendees through the gates.
EVENTS: Kate Kurdyak with Alexandria Maillot @ BACKSTAGE LOUNGE – June 11, 2014
Kate Kurdyak is one of the newest additions to the 604 Records roster. Kurdyak and her band were the winners of Youthink Magazine’s ‘BC’s Best Teen Band’ back in 2012. Granville Island is one of the places where the group can be found playing music on a sunny day, so the Backstage Lounge is a fitting venue for a show next week on Wednesday June 11th.

The Khatsahlano Block Party is back and better than ever this summer. On Saturday July 12th from 11:00am to 9:00pm, West 4th Avenue from Burrard to MacDonald will be dominated by the biggest music and arts festival in Vancouver. More importantly, the festival is a celebration of community. And it’s all free of charge!

Cat Thomson is wrapping up her recent Spring Into Summer tour which graced stages in Western Canada and with an appearance in Toronto during Canadian Music Week. The last show of her Spring tour will be at Backstage Lounge at Granville Island here in Vancouver.

The folks over at the Biltmore Cabaret have presented a number of shows featuring local artists covering songs of musical legends. Coming up in May are two nights of The Songs of The Beatles, and they are sure to be memorable.
EVENTS: Real Ponchos | Canadian Tour Dates
Real Ponchos will be independently releasing their debut full-length album, Since I Let You Go, on May 6th. The Vancouver alt-country band will be kicking off a cross-Canada tour next month starting with their album release party in Vancouver on May 2nd at the Anza Club, where the band’s set list will include the entirety of the new album.

EVENTS: Party For The Planet @ SURREY CITY HALL PLAZA – April 26, 2014
Last week, the City of Surrey announced the details for this year’s Party for the Planet – including musical headliners Said The Whale and guests Andrew Allen, Dear Rouge, Jordan Klassen, and Jeremy Fisher. The fourth annual festival will be held on Saturday April 26th and continues to be one of the largest Earth Day events in British Columbia.

Cara Luft is currently two weeks into her Western Canada tour dates, having kicked off her tour in her hometown of Winnipeg on January 25th. Prior to this, Luft spent the past year touring overseas in support of her latest album, Darlingford. Her return to the Canadian stage is more than welcome.

The 2nd Annual String Fling Concert is set to be tied together by strings on February 6th at The Rio Theatre, presented by the Four on the Floor quartet. The special guests of the evening include: Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother, Jay Malinowski of Bedouin Soundclash, Steve Bays and Parker Bossley of Fur Trade and Hot Hot Heat, Brandon Scott of Yukon Blonde, Laura Smith of Rococode, and Tonye Aganaba.
