THREE DAYS GRACE @ GM Place

Three Days Grace rocked the house at General Motors Place this past Tuesday night, and boy did they ROCK the house! With a crowd filled with faithful Three Days Grace (3DG) fans, Adam Gontier, Neil Sanderson, Brad Walst, and Barry Stock brought their all and fired up the crowd from beginning to end. Showcasing songs from past and present albums, the crowd at GM Place sang along to each track, making the show more interactive than many other rock concerts.

The show in Vancouver was the make-up date after the rescheduling of the initial concert date back in November, and the final Canadian stop before 3DG embarks upon a U.S tour within a couple of days. Opening for Three Days Grace was ill Scarlett and Vancouver’s own Default, who both riled the crowd up in anticipation of Three Days Grace to set foot on stage. While The Used was an opener for Three Days Grace in many of their previous shows across Canada, due to the unforeseen rescheduling events of the B.C shows and prior commitments by The Used, ill Scarlett signed on to perform in their slots throughout the rescheduled stops and fans in attendance would definitely not view them as merely a “replacement” band by any means.

Default came to the stage to an enthusiastic home-town crowd with friends and family in attendance and began the head-banging and crowd-surfing that continued on into the night with “Turn It On,” and adding hits including “Live A Lie”, “Count On Me,” “ Comes and Goes”, and “Wasting My Time” as well. If you have the chance to check out a show on the U.S tour stops, be sure to look for the interesting Default/Three Days Grace version of “It’s Raining Men,” and according to Adam of 3DG, that is the song of choice for Default during their warm-up!

End of tour antics bring some underwear clad men on stage during Default's set at the Three Days Grace show in Vancouver.

All kidding aside, Three Days Grace have seemingly been touring non-stop since the release of their latest album Life Starts Now, and have fine-tuned their track list to surely satisfy any Three Days Grace fan.

The set list is as follows:

  • Break
  • Good Life
  • Pain
  • Bitter Taste
  • Wake Up
  • I Hate Everything About You
  • Home
  • I Don’t Care
  • Last To Know
  • Goin’ Down
  • Never Too Late
  • Riot
  • Lost In You
  • Just Like You
  • Animal I Have Become

In the middle of the set is a brilliant drum solo by Neil Sanderson, that will make your head spin (almost literally!).

It has been a while since Three Days Grace performed in Vancouver, and for the band to be headlining their very own national and U.S tour is quite the feat. To witness home-grown Canadian talent take to the stage and rock the house is a treat for any fan of Canadian music, but when you hear Three Days Grace perform live, with Adam’s never-ending vocal excellence, it is hard not to get lost into the music, regardless of where they come from. If you have the chance to check out the band at any upcoming shows during this Life Starts Now tour or in the future, be sure to do so, it is quite the experience!

I’ve seen them twice in Ottawa > once at bluesfest and once at their present tour and they fucking rocked. Default wasn’t bad, but The Used were awful.

Interesting to hear! And it’s not the first time I’ve heard fans say The Used wasn’t the best fit with the other two bands, but luckily we got to have ill Scarlett instead, and they were pretty awesome! Can’t argue with the fact that Three Days Grace was amazing though, one of the better shows I’ve seen in a while:)

I went to 3DG show in Vancouver on Tuesday night and I have to say it was one of the best rock shows I’ve ever seen. This is the second time I’ve seen them and this show was way better. The band was really tight and Adam is an excellent frontman. He knows how to work the audience and get them involved. The pryo was fantastic especially being in sync with the band playing. Also loved the drum solo. Nice to see the crowd really get into the show too by standing up the whole time and singing along to pretty much all of the songs. Overall it was a truly amazing show by one of the best rock bands to come out of Canada in a long time!

Thanks for checking the blog out! I totally agree, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a band so interactive and genuinely interested in the crowd. The pyro was fantastic and pretty unexpected, I don’t recall them using pyro in previous concerts in Vancouver. I think the mix of songs that they had – past and present – revived a lot of their music to their fans, I know I can’t stop listening to their albums now! Definitely looking forward to more great things from 3DG as they truly do seem to improve with time.
