#musicmonday Artist Feature – HANNAH GEORGAS

Hometown: Vancouver, BC | Label: Hidden Pony

Hannah Georgas has a personality, and is not afraid to show it. The offbeat quirkiness of the Vancouver singer-songwriter is reflected quite prominently in her debut album, ‘This Is Good”. There is a reason why she has a growing fan base, including the support of fellow local band, Said The Whale, with whom she has shared the stage and studio with already.

Georgas first garnered buzz after the release of her EP, ‘The Beat Stuff”. Since then, she has charmed listeners with the playful arrangements of her songs, paired with her ethereal vocals which allow the rawness of emotion to showcase. While Hannah Georgas is certainly her own artist, there is a drawing of comparisons to artists such as Imogen Heap, Feist, and Regina Spektor.

While her earlier work may be more acoustically aligned, Georgas shows that she has room to grow, as there is experimenting with beats on tracks such as ‘Dance Floor’ and ‘Bang Bang You’re Dead’. In the video of the first single off of her debut album, ‘Thick Skin’, Georgas literally bares it all, showing the type of fearless that her songwriting portrays.

Hannah Georgas will be touring across Canada in support of her debut album from late April until the end of May. For more details, check out her Myspace page here.
