Five shows into their US tour, The Script played at Showbox SODO in Seattle to last Saturday night. Although their sophomore album Science & Faith has yet to be released in North America – as flyers at the show indicated, the US release date is slated for January 18, 2011, the band has been playing to crowded and packed venues and Seattle was no exception.
Despite their hectic tour schedule, the band put their game faces off, feeding effortlessly off of the energy of the crowd, and the fans did the same. At one point during their set, lead singer Danny O’Donoghue started off ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ acapella, joined in by fans – and seemed genuinely touched by the crowd participation.
The set list consisted of a relatively equal mix of songs from their debut album along with key tracks off of Science & Faith. The Script have a unmistakable way in connecting with the audience through their music, and it was a treat to see such a dynamic band live in action.
O’Donoghue, along with band mates Mark Sheehan and Glen Power, have conquered their home base back in Ireland as well as topping the UK charts. Their popularity in North America has certainly been on the rise, and will continue to do so, and the sizes of the venues they play seem to grow as well.
It isn’t everyday that you find a band that is as dedicated to their fans as much as their fans are dedicated towards themselves, but The Script certainly goes above and beyond in that aspect.
We can’t wait until they come up North and take over Canada.
