There is a clear sense of reflection and honesty in Dominique Fricot‘s music.
The Vancouver singer-songwriter’s first full-length album Sweet Little Fantasy will be released tomorrow, which includes the pop-forward lead single, “I Miss The 80’s”. Fricot is no stranger to the local music scene, as he placed third in the 2012 Peak Performance Project as well as scoring a Best of BC award from Shore 104.3.
The mark of a great songwriter is in the ability to transform the emotions drawn from one’s own life experiences into their music. Fricot certainly falls under the category of a dynamic songwriter as Sweet Little Fantasy draws from a variety of genres, but consistently delivers in heart and soul. Songs such as “Saddest Thing” and “You Can’t Leave Me” showcase Fricot’s ability to shape the feeling of hope, despite despair, through the contrast of his lyrics with crafted soundscapes.
Fricot is currently amidst a series of Western Canadian tour dates, which includes a joint album release party with Hilary Grist on June 26th at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver. Check back later this week for our full interview with Dominique!
