It has been a busy summer for Vancouver based singer-songwriter Rosie June.
June first independently released her debut album Listening Post last year. The record caught the attention of music lovers and critics alike, but more notably, it caught the attention of Brendan Canning from Broken Social Scene. 聽The result was the re-release of Listening Post this past June through Canning鈥檚 own label, Draper Street Records. June also embarked on a tour with Hey Ocean! earlier this summer, bringing her songs to life for the first time with a full backing band.
Listening Post is an ideal record for summer days, textured by dreamy synth beats and layered with the ethereal tones of June鈥檚 vocals. Though comparisons can be drawn to other current dream-pop artists, there is no doubt that Rosie June is one to keep an eye (or an ear) on and a great addition to the local music scene.
