The impact of music is not limited to the equilibrium of emotions. When paired with the guidance of a music therapist, the creation of music can be a healing power, and it has been proven to help with coping during medical treatment and hospitalization.
Bandwagons are mobile studios that include recording software, sound processing equipment, and musical instruments. While Bandwagon 1 is a permanent fixture at the BC Children鈥檚 Hospital, Bandwagon 2 travels around the Lower Mainland for various institutions for six-week residencies.
Last year鈥檚 event raised over $65,000 with over 100 riders participating in the trip from Vancouver to Whistler. The goal for this year will see all the funds being raised going towards a third Bandwagon as well as continuing to provide financial support for the services of music therapists.
The celebrity guests for this year鈥檚 event will be Canadian country group, The Road Hammers. For more information on the 2014 Music Therapy Ride and to find out how you can help, please head over to: http://musictherapyride.org.
