The fourth annual #SingItFwd will be this Thursday January 8th at the Vogue Theatre. The annual charity event showcases not only a solid lineup of performers, but also directly supports the Saint James Music Academy.
#SingItFwd was co-founded in 2011 by David Vertesi of Hey Ocean! and Ambrosia Humphrey of HootSuite. The vision for the event was to foster a connection between music and the community. All of the proceeds go directly towards the funding of SJMA, which offers free-of-charge music instruction to children living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. These classes include strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, choir, and orchestra – the fruition of this musical education speaks for itself at the event.
This year’s lineup includes K-os, Hey Ocean!, July Talk, Harpoonist + The Axe Murderer, Bear Mountain, Dear Rouge, Jordan Klassen, and Bend Sinister.
How can you help? If you buy a ticket to the show on Thursday, the proceeds will go directly to the SJMA. You can also donate at the event, or directly to the SJMA. Tickets are $25 for students / $35 for general admission and are available through Northern Tickets and at Redcat.
