It started with an idea and with inspiration from music greats from the past.
Friends Olaf Caarls (Long Conversations) and Benjamin James Caldwell (Broken Down Suitcase) had long discussed their dream of reviving a live road show and touring across Europe. Shortly afterwards, Dominique Fricot and Pieter Van Vliet (Port of Call) were added to the mix and The Folk Road Show was born.
The group toured rigorously in the fall of 2014, spanning seven countries in Europe in a little over a month. The Folk Road Show brought its show from venue to venue, including street corners, theatres, bars, living rooms, and clubs – regardless of the size of the venue, the four musicians were able to make the shows feel intimate.
Described by Ben Wysocki (The Fray) as “the closest you’ll get to seeing Crosby Stills Nash and Young in the comfort of your living room”, The Folk Road Show will be bringing their show to Vancouver on July 25th at Wise Hall. The group is currently touring Western Canada before returning to Europe this fall.
