EVENTS: CBCMusic.ca Presents – Green Tracks

Did you know that British Columbians dropped off almost one billion beverage containers to Return-It depots last year? To celebrate this fact, CBCMusic.ca and Return-It introduced Green Tracks – a collaboration between music and recycling.

The challenge – getting three of our province’s favourite bands: Hey Ocean!, Shred Kelly, and Yukon Blonde to create instruments out of recycled materials and use them to perform a song. The winning band will receive $3000 to donate to a local charity of their choice, with the second place band receiving $2000, and the third place band receiving $1000.

Fans were a part of the voting process and the winner will be announced this Wednesday October 7th. This is a great initiative to inspire us to consider thinking outside the box when it comes to recycling.

Although the voting process has ended, head over to http://greentracks.cbc.ca to watch all of the performances and find out more about this project.
