EVENTS: Bodhi Jones ‘Bones’ Album Release Party @ ST. JAMES HALL, September 6, 2013

events_bjThe Peak Performance Project hosts some of the most talented local musicians, so it comes as no surprise that Bodhi Jones is one of the Top 20 Finalists in this year’s edition of The Peak 102.7’s annual competition.

He has spent the past couple of years honing his craft as a songwriter and a musician, recording five EP’s and five full-length albums. If Jones looks familiar to you, perhaps you’ve been a part of his audience while he busked on the streets of downtown Vancouver. To celebrate the release of his fifth full-length album Bones, released on August 20th, Jones will be headlining a show at St. James Hall this Friday.

Earlier this summer, Jones released a video for the track ‘Drink Like The World’s Gonna End’ – written from the perspective of his peers, and the tendencies to turn to drugs in alcohol to numb feelings of despair. The video, consisting of over 10, 000 time-lapsed pictures, was shot over a 12-hour period as Jones stood on the corner of Broadway & Granville.

As a songwriter, Jones’ strength is certainly in perspective. Upon listening to Bones, there is certainly a clear snapshot of who Jones is – humble, honest, and heartfelt. Each track is as reflective as it is thought provoking. Tracks such as ‘Can’t Catch A Break’ seem to shift from a personal narrative towards a social commentary of the bigger issues on hand.

Bodhi Jones will be playing with a full band at the show, and there will be special guests from The Peak Performance Project. Doors open at 8:00pm at St. James Hall (3214 West 10th Avenue). Tickets are $11.35 in advance, $15 at the door. Please note that this is a 19+ show. Tickets available via bodhijones.brownpapertickets.com.
