It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day monotony and routine of life. One day often blends into the next, until something happens outside the norm that shakes things up. That is exactly what happened two years ago: life as we knew it came to a screeching halt. We were forced to take pause and try to make sense of it all, something Noah Reid touches on so effectively throughout “Everyday”, his latest release and first single off his upcoming third album Adjustments.
“Everyday” gives listeners a glimpse of what to expect from Toronto native Reid’s upcoming third album. Reid presents himself as self-reflective and perceptive, undoubtedly influenced by the last two years of isolation and loneliness that we have all wrestled with. Bright and folky tones, combined with Reid’s warm and earnest vocals, contrast some of the more melancholy lyrics. The song is written from the perspective of someone who is trying to come to terms with what has been lost, longing to do something as simple as take a walk in the park again.
Reid notes what many of us are often remiss to admit – while we should be grateful for what we have, “We kinda thought that things would pretty much stay the same” and it has been quite the adjustment dealing with the many changes we have experienced both as a society and as individuals due to the pandemic. We are all trying to navigate a new normal, with varying degrees of success.
In addition to new music, Reid already has a busy year ahead with his Broadway debut coming up next month in The Minutes. Learn more about Noah Reid at https://www.noahreid.com.
