Q: Introduce yourself!
Hannah Harlacher: Hey hey my name is Hannah Harlacher and I am a singer-songwriter from Northern California who misses the sunshine and her family! But I have fallen in love with Vancouver and I’m fortunate to call it home. I have been an emerging artist for some time now, and the Vancouver music scene is such a treat to be a part of – there are so many talented folks around. I am a sappy romantic and a big feeler, and l like to spend my time writing, eating, being outdoors, and admiring neighborhood kitties.
Q: How would you describe your music to a first-time listener?
HH: My music is still discovering how it wants to be defined, but right now it’s leaning into an indie – alt-country, folk-rock space that feels pretty special, and I think highlights a lot of the blues and folk music influence that I’ve grown up with. Angel Olsen with a pinch of extra drama.
Q: What is your favourite music venue in Vancouver?
HH: I think that my favorite music venue is probably the Commodore Ballroom, because of the bouncy floor and the intimacy and the option to dance without getting in anybody’s way. 😉
Q: If someone is listening to you for the first time, which song would you recommend they start with?
HH: My new song “Ghost” or “Dog Day” because it’s sweet and the best people worked on it.
Q: What was the last live show you attended?
HH: I saw Unknown Mortal Orchestra over the summer at the Vogue Theatre, and the haze and light filled the space up in a vibey, ethereal way. It was such a moody, fun show. Ruban Nielson has the coolest voice.
