The day before I spoke on the phone with the members of 4Count, there was fandemonium on the other side of the country. The band had surprised two schools in Ontario as part of an anti-bullying campaign organized by their friend and motivational speaker, Saidat. The smiles on the faces of the kids they surprised said it all – 4Count has their hearts set on making a positive impression.

The Motorleague consists of lead singer Don Levandier, bassist Shawn Chaisson, guitarist Nathan Jones, and drummer Francis Landry. After the release of their sophomore effort Acknowledge, Acknowledge last summer, the band has been hard at work in support of it, earning themselves a nomination for ‘Emerging Artist of the Year’ at this year’s SiriusXM Indie Awards.

JPNSGRLS (with vowels, Japanese Girls) have had a busy year so far, and there are no signs of slowing down. The band released “Smalls”, the first single from their upcoming full-length debut Circulation, just before they toured Western Canada with Mounties. With lots of new fans in tow, JPNSGRLS graced the top of CBC Radio’s Top 30 listener-voted chart for four consecutive weeks with “Smalls”.
