#musicmonday Artist Feature – HAYLEY SALES

Hometown: Vancouver Island, BC | Label: Universal Music Canada

No matter where you go in life, you wouldn鈥檛 get there if it weren鈥檛 for where you came. A native of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Hayley Sales may be one of Canada鈥檚 newest singing talents, but she is also an environmentalist and activist, a person who stands by what she believes is right and is determined to go out and do something about it. An artist in almost every sense of the word, Hayley uses her music to offer a voice of reason on what is important in life, and uses her artistic talents to create a sense of peace. Hayley is unlike many others not only within the music industry, but is one of those special people that others look up to and aspire to be like, regardless of what position they are in.

With a voice that is undeniably natural and seamless, Hayley’s sound is earthly, a voice that reminds you of a much-needed breeze in the summer. Having written and recorded her debut album Sunseed at the very young age of 19, Hayley worked harder to explore the world around her and absorb the many experiences and emotions into her latest album When The Bird Became A Book, which was released just this past June. She recorded the album at the studio located on her family鈥檚 blueberry farm on Vancouver Island, having been inspired by the nature around her. 聽There is something about Hayley’s music that makes you genuinely feel happy and free, and when you hear her storybook lyrics, it`s as if you`re able to hear the sounds of the world around you.

Hayley’s more recent cause, a cause that has unfortunately come to light in the recent months, is marine life preservation and other oceanic causes. One step ahead of the unfortunate oil spill in the Gulf, Hayley has been featured in a viral video that retells the visual history of the oil industry’s cost to the planet. With the ability to spread the word through music, Hayley is currently touring through Canada, be sure to check her out in a city nearby!
