There’s a new generation of singer-songwriters who make you feel all the feels, and that includes Gracie Abrams. Her latest single, “Block Me Out”, beautifully encompasses how anxiety can get the best of us. The reflective track is co-written and produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner.
SOTD: Holly Humberstone – London Is Lonely
Holly Humberstone knows how to get you right in the feels with her latest release, “Lonely In London”. The British singer-songwriter wrote this poignant track based on her experience of moving to London and feeling disconnected and isolated just before the start of the pandemic. This song reminds us that loneliness can be both a personal yet universal feeling, especially following a collective experience.
SOTD: Sierra Ferrell – Hey Me, Hey Mama
There are stories behind Sierra Ferrell’s voice that are brought to life simply through song. In this case, it’s a cover of one of Ray LaMontagne’s. One of the most magical things about covers is when an artist like Ferrell adds her own heart and soul to the words – the song takes on new life.
