Carly Rae Jepsen has graced us with the song of spring. “Western Wind” reads like a love letter to California and the state of falling in love, co-written and produced by frequent collaborator Rostam. There’s a hopefulness in the music that many of our favourite artists have written during the course of the pandemic, and “Western Wind” absolutely falls into this category.
We’ve known Jepsen to be a talented songwriter since the release of her debut record (shout out to any Tug of War fans) and her latest track shows that she’s found her groove in blending her folk sensibilities with the synth-pop sounds of 2015’s critically acclaimed E*MO*TION. We can’t wait to hear what’s next in this new era of Carly Rae Jepsen.
