SOTD: Dizzy – Birthmark

asapmusicblog.ca song of the day

The start of a new year means a year of new music. A recent addition to our rotating playlist is Dizzy‘s latest release, ‘Birthmark’.

The Oshawa-based indie pop band has been teasing new music since late last year and their newest single has us itching for more. ‘Birthmark’ features the classic Dizzy touches with lush vocals from lead singer Katie Munshaw, dreamy production, and main character-esque storytelling. A 10/10 for including a font reference in the beautifully written bridge:

Was there a time before you, me? /
I watch us from the mezzanine /
Where once there was a bolder man /
You cower now in comic sans

Watch the accompanying video for ‘Birthmark’ below, featuring a dizzying interpretation of what it means to dance with the devil.
